3 Tips to Protecting Your Frame While Moving

Whether you are moving from your parent's house to a dorm room or new apartment you will need to protect your valuable items while moving. Your diploma frames will need to be protected especially if you want them to make it from one place to another without being damaged. Since we have been in the framing business for over 20 years, we have heard countless stories about frames being damaged when being transported. 

1. Place in a Thick Secure Box

Slide the frame into a thick box that will not easily rip or tear. It may help to add additional cushion-like packing peanuts, bubble wrap, or even packing paper to secure the frame and prevent it from moving in the box. You'll need to tape the ends so that the box doesn't open during transporting and make sure that the box is labeled - typically a handwritten label is used on boxes when moving. 

2. Use Bubble Wrap and Packing Peanuts

Wrap the frame carefully with packing peanuts, bubble wrap, or a blanket. Tape the wrapping securely in place so that it won't shift or slide during the move. Make sure to cover every surface of your diploma frame, including the corners. If you aren't using a frame or mirror box, wrap the frame in a thick blanket as well for added protection.

3. The Corners Need Protection

The corners on diploma frames are the sharpest and typically get damaged first. Using frame corner protectors can help protect the corners of your diploma frames. They will protect the corners from being damaged during the packing and move.  If you can't find frame corner protectors, take additional pieces of bubble wrap and tape them securely over the corners.
